Accessibility statement

elan1.ai aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The same standard underpins EN 301 549 in Europe and the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites, and supports the aims of India’s Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.

• A “Skip to main content” link as the first thing you can focus on
• One main heading per page, headings in order, and labelled header, navigation and footer landmarks
• Everything works with a keyboard. Menus open and close with Enter and Esc, and focus returns where you were
• A visible focus ring on every control, never hidden behind the sticky header
• Controls at least 48 by 48 pixels where we can, and never smaller than 24
• Text that meets contrast minimums on every background, in light and dark themes
• Status shown in words, never by colour alone
• Pages that reflow at 320 pixels wide and at 200% zoom without sideways scrolling
• Alternative text that describes what a photograph shows; decorative graphics hidden from screen readers
• Tables with captions and headers, and text versions of diagrams
• No carousels or autoplaying video. Motion is reduced when your system asks for it
• Forms with visible labels, errors in text, and no CAPTCHA puzzles
• Contact us in the same place on every page

The site follows your device’s light or dark setting, so it changes when you change that setting.

Motion follows your operating system’s “reduce motion” setting. Text can be resized with your browser’s zoom, up to 400%.

We test at build and before launch, with automated checks, keyboard-only use, and the NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack screen readers. Until the launch audit is complete, we describe the site as aiming for, not yet confirmed at, WCAG 2.2 AA.

Known limitations

• Some downloadable documents, such as PDFs, may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will send an accessible version within 2 working days.
• The developer documentation at docs.elan1.ai will be assessed separately when it launches.

If you cannot use part of the site, or need content in another format, write to elango@elan1.ai with the page address and what happened. You do not need to describe your disability.

We reply within 2 working days, and tell you when the barrier is fixed or what we can offer in the meantime.

If our response does not resolve the problem, you can contact the Office of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in India, or the accessibility enforcement body in your own country. You can also raise it as a grievance through our grievance officer.

The site is built with semantic HTML, WAI-ARIA where native elements are not enough, and CSS, with JavaScript used to enhance rather than deliver content. It is designed for current versions of major browsers and assistive technologies.
