Governed write path

A governed write path is the one route through which every AI agent change to a system of record must pass. On the way, the change is checked against versioned rules, approved by a named person where the rules ask, and recorded. elan1 is built as a governed write path for AI agents.

In one sentence: The one route through which every AI agent change to a system of record must pass. The route is checked, approved and recorded.

What it means in practice

A governed write path separates proposing from writing. AI agents, people and elan1 Decide may propose changes as write intents; only the kernel in elan1 Govern writes to the system of record, using a single-use credential.

Because there is one path, there is one place to check rules, one place for approvals and one record of every outcome. In Mode A elan1 holds the credential, so the path is enforced; in Mode B every write intent is evaluated and recorded, and enforcement is yours.
